Remember The Fox and the Hound? This is one of the first Disney cartoons I remember watching, a total classic. As a child, I was a lover of all things Disney and especially if it involved animals, so this was one I was fond of. We didnt own it, so I didnt see it very often, but I remember it made a big impression on me and brought me to tears when I would watch it. Just seeing the two friends grow up together as best friends and then realize theyre natural enemies when they grew up was a heartrending situation (especially to me as a child). There are different things you can do when looking to make your own initial or number applique to iron onto a t-shirt. You can find free number or letter patterns online, but its a pain to find them and then youre stuck with whatever font that person liked. You can also make your own. Im going to show you how to do that today. First, go into Microsoft Word (Im using 2007 but you should be able to find what you need in any version). Type in a number or letter, enlarge it, and play around with the fonts until you get the look you want. For this example, I used Arial Rounded MT Bold. Well folks, its been a little over a month since I shared my experiences with the Affresh Stainless Steel surface cleaner. I saw this done on The Artful Parent and had to let Emma give it a try! (Please ignore the laundry in the background) Its an inexpensive activity (obviously since all you need is marshmallows and toothpicks), and Emma loved the fact that part of her art supplies were edible. 🙂 Actually the fact that it was edible was very distracting and we didnt get as much modeling done as I had hoped. 😉 But we built some little houses like the one seen above, and also made some shapes and letters! This is a terrific learning opportunity for preschoolers, and really kids of all ages will enjoy this. You can put together some pretty cool-looking sculptures and youre not limited in any way! Two new childrens books books have been released by Abrams Books for Young Readers, a favorite publisher of ours: The Ugly Duckling Dinosaur by Cheryl Bardoe About the Book (Book Synopsis) Once upon a time, seven tiny duck beaks pecked their way out of their eggs, but the eighth egg was a little bit different. This is one of those things I was nervous about making up for Emma since it looks so messy. But it looked like way too much fun, so jumped in. I started with dying the rice myself. Then I put in some random little containers and spoons (not sure where those went but you can see in this post what it originally looked like). It was very easy and definitely rewarding Emma plays with this for at least a couple of hours each day! Thats how Im able to take a moment to come write this post. 😉 So is it as messy as I had anticipated? Well, probably more. But Im okay with that since its such a hit. What are your thoughts on this doll? Before answering, please watch this video at Gizmodo it is crazy! Im not sure what creeps me out more, the doll itself or the way the woman is interacting with it. LOL I have to admit that I really prefer the floppy quiet dolls. I do like the eyes that close when you lie the baby down, I think thats sweet. I think we should let little girls use their imagination when we can! That said, if my daughter REALLY wanted an interactive doll like this, I would probably give in and get her one.
