Im one of those people who obsessively keeps track of blog giveaways. My favorite sites are Prizey, Prize-A-Tron, and Bloggy Giveaways. It can be rather distracting and time consuming but hey, Ive already won something! Four childrens books in fact, so its not a waste of time, my friends! Ive also been a fan of Etsy.com, a place to buy and sell handcrafted items online. There are so many treasures there and today I found a great Etsy store called Pinkplicity. It features the most beautiful little girls dresses, skirts, and aprons I have ever seen. The creator of these masterpieces knows just how to combine the right colors and patterns to make a truly one-of-a-kind treasure. I secretly (well, not so secretly anymore) have a fascination with dragons. It all started with a book my mom read to me when I was a child Dragons Milk by Susan Fletcher. Dragons Milk is a very well-written fantasy novel about Kaeldra, a young girl who is on a quest to save her little sister, who falls deathly ill with a disease that is only curable with a mother dragons milk. Kaeldra finds herself bargaining with a dragon for some of the dragons milk (she is surprised and a little dismayed to discover that she is one of the rare few humans who can communicate with dragons with her mind). I was completely drawn in on Kaeldras journey and discovery of who she was. I love to read memoirs and autobiographies not biographies so much because I like it to hear the real story. I just finished Days on the Road: Crossing the Plains in 1865, The Diary of Sarah Raymond Herndon and loved it! I was surprised and pleased to find that she was a strong Christian and a very smart woman (24 years old). When I borrowed it from the library I just thought it looked interesting, so that was definitely a plus. She was very philosophical, too. Obviously not an airhead and very popular with almost everyone she met the wagon train she and her family was a part of loved her, you could tell even though she was very modest in her journal. Its been awhile since I read a book I couldnt put down. Sometimes, when I dislike a book after Ive finished it, I wonder if I would have liked it had I been in a different mood. Should books be given a second chance or be forever marked in the mind as not good enough to suit me? This is why I hesitate to write reviews on certain books. Many have potential well, in my mind every story has potential. Take one plot and give it to two different authors and they will come up with something completely different. One may be a bestseller, written with heart and feeling, and the other uncomparable.That said, have you ever noticed how books that you have truly disliked because they werent written well or the characters werent real enough always seem to have at least one five-star review from someone who loved it?…
