The Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 on Blu-Ray + DVD! {Review}

Remember The Fox and the Hound? This is one of the first Disney cartoons I remember watching, a total classic. As a child, I was a lover of all things Disney and especially if it involved animals, so this was one I was fond of. We didnt own it, so I didnt see it very often, but I remember it made a big impression on me and brought me to tears when I would watch it. Just seeing the two friends grow up together as best friends and then realize theyre natural enemies when they grew up was a heartrending situation (especially to me as a child).

The Fox and the Hound 2 was completely new to me when I received this set on DVD, so I was very interested in seeing what they did with the story. First of all, its considerably lighter in topic than the first one (nice) and there is a lot of music since it centers around Tod and Copper (as pups!) trying to join up with a traveling group of singing dogs, The Singin Strays. We enjoyed it and found that the charm of the characters from the first movie carried through to this one.

The special features on this 3-disc edition include:

  • A collection of unlikely friendships in the animal kingdom (Blu-Ray disc)
  • Sing-a-long songs and music videos
  • The Making of The Fox and the Hound
  • The Making of the Music

Final Thoughts:

I was impressed with the quality of the movie the picture is as clear as if it had just recently been released! The only thing that differs is the charming painting-like background to the scenes. Im amazed at what they can do to restore old cartoons nowadays. 🙂 This is a great combo, very worth adding to your Disney movie collection!
