The Lion King is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD! This was my absolute favorite cartoon growing up. I remember sitting in awe in the theatre and watching the drama play out, and then going home and thinking of nothing else. When it came out on VHS (I am so old), I was so excited. My dad got caught up in my excitement and even surprised me by pre-ordering it from the Disney Store so we could get it first. Straight from heaven up above, here is a baby for you to love. Did you know that Dumbo was first aired in 1941? This fascinates me I didnt realize until I looked it up today that it was that classic. Amazing! It certainly does have an old-time charm and a different focus than the Disney movies nowadays have. I mean, the backgrounds are watercolor paintings. And the writers werent afraid to write a story that is so very touching that you want to reach in and pluck Dumbo from the tough surroundings he faces. By the time you reach the end, though, you see that everything he went through made him a better well, elephant. 🙂 Obviously this was a movie I watched, enjoyed, and thought about long after the end credits had rolled by. Last Autumn I bought a couple of craft pumpkins from Michaels when they had a sale. I was excited at the prospect of painting them myself and having a couple of artistic decorative pumpkins to decorate my house with. So I bought some paint and got started, a perfect picture of glittery orange pumpkins in my imagination. If youve ever had a project fail, youll understand my disappointment at what came of all my work. Two very very VERY ugly pumpkins. I guess that glittery orange spray paint Id purchased was not a solid color and more of a gel topping. So sad! I put them on my very tall bookshelf and refused to look at them for an entire year. So heres the story. On Monday night I found a young grasshopper on my car window. On impulse, I decided to catch it and show it to Emma. In doing so, I accidentally caused it to lose a leg. Ack! I was mortified! Poor little guy was just innocently hanging out and then this giant hand swoops in and makes him lose a very important part of his body! It wasnt just any leg, either, it was one of his back hopping legs. Poor Hopper! He stared at me with narrowed eyes. Sorry! So I kept him overnight in a bug jar. I wasnt sure what to do with him, but could hardly put him out in the cold night with one hopping leg. Emma enjoyed looking for him in the bug jar that night and asked to hold him about 20 times.
