Ive been sick (still) and not doing a lot of crafting of my own in the last week, so Im going to share some awesome craft tutorials Ive found around the blogosphere today. We all need inspiration, and hopefully something here will inspire YOU! Alpha Mom has a deeeelicious-looking tutorial for Hot Chocolate Spoons. These would make hot chocolate time even more fun! Im confident youll gasp when you see how these amazingly stylish and cute sweater boots were made. You guessed it from a sweater! Urban Threads put together a wonderful photo tutorial. Mamas Worldwide shows you step by step how to change a regular bra into a nursing bra! If you want to learn how to make a wooden pendant necklacelike these, head on over to Lil Blue Boo (a favorite blog of mine)! Yoonie At Home has a great tutorial for crocheting your own laptop sleeve. Perfect…
My daughter loves dogs. She also loves toys that move around and make noise (think zhu-zhu pets she loved those!). So when I was given the opportunity to review Skippy the Smart Pup from VTech, I was excited for Emma. I was hoping the toy would be very interactive and that she would enjoy it as much as she did the zhu-zhu pets. Before I get into our opinion of this toy, let me tell you a little bit about it. Skippy the Smart Pup is a colorful, interactive electronic toy dog that comes with a bone remote. It isnt necessarily controlled by the remote, but it interacts with the remote. From the website: Your child will love the fun interactions with their learning puppy using a wireless infrared sensor bone, pressable head button, light-up nose button, swinging ears, four leg buttons and moving joystick tail. The puppy actually moves…
I took this quiz that supposedly tells you whether your little one is ready for potty training over at iVillage Parenting (my mom sent the link to me). The result? Emma is close, but not quite ready. Although I had made it one of my goals to start potty training this month, Im kind of relieved, the main reason being that Emmas interest in sitting on the potty is zilch. Though once I brought a bag of chocolate chips out, she willingly sat on it and then held her hand out for the chocolate. Once it was in her hand, she was up and OUTTA THERE. As I was taking the quiz, I thought about the questions they were asking and realized before the end that Emma wasnt ready. No, she does not tell me when she has gone in her diaper, she doesnt say poo poo or pee pee…
Does anyone who comes into contact with a Melissa and Doug toy fail to instantly become a lifelong fan? Not that I know of. I myself love love LOVE their toys, and Ive never heard a single word against them. On the contrary, its all praise, praise, praise! Its the simple truth: moms love Melissa and Doug. WHY is this esteemed line of toys so rave-worthy? First of all, this is a business that started in the garage of, you guessed it, Melissa and Doug! You can read the full cute and funny story of who Melissa and Doug are and how their business developed here. These two wonderful people put themselves into their toys. Theyre conscientious and they want happy customers (which is what they have). Why, they even sign their names to every toy! So its very important to them that everything is tested extensively for safety and…
Ive been meaning for a while now to write a post sharing who I really am with you guys. I never really had a very good about me post, so this is the remedy. 😉 Those of you who are following this blog and commenting I LOVE YOU! 🙂 I love every comment and try to reply either by email or in the comment. I appreciate all of my subscribers, whether youre lurking or not. Me, Me, Me My name is Lindsey (also called Lindz or Linds) and I live in the gorgeous but sometimes-too-rainy Pacific Northwest. I met my gamer/computer-nerd/musician future husband here and weve been happily married for five years. After three years of marriage, we were blessed with a baby girl! Oh, I was so thrilled. You see, I was diagnosed with endometriosis after I got married suddenly I realized I might have trouble having a baby….
I am so unorganized when it comes to making and preparing meals. Ive been a mom for 19 months, and I cannot believe I havent mastered this. But *sigh* I hate meal-planning. I tend to let myself become overwhelmed. Strangely enough, though, I love to cook! Im always on the lookout for a good cookbook, something to bring me out of my usual taco bake/same-old pasta/meatloaf/Im-so-desperate-Im-making-macaroni-and-cheese (with extra cheese) rut. So when Jane Doiron, author of Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms, contacted me about reviewing her popular cookbook, I agreed happily. The meal on the cover looks great, the sample recipes on her website looked doable, and Im all for make-ahead meals! Thats something I dont do much but I would love to have something prepared for those blah days. Oh, and Im a busy mom. Without a doubt. My Thoughts Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms actually surpassed my expectations!…
Life with an almost two-year-old (Emma is 19 months now) is quite the adventure! Its a constant learning experience I had no idea it would be like this. By the time I think Ive mastered one stage, another is upon me and we have to adapt to that! I guess Id better get used to it. 😉 Napping and Bedtime: Were down to one nap a day now, at around 3 p.m. Not long ago she was taking two naps a day oh how I miss that quiet time, lol. Bedtime is still fairly easy, around 7:30-8:00 p.m. she goes to sleep. She is wanting verrrry long hugs at night now. I cant resist because I love the fact that she wants to hug me, even if its a ploy to delay sleep time. 🙂 Mealtime: Thankfully, there isnt so much throwing food overboard off her high chair anymore! That…
Emmas grandpa (my dad) made her this scarf for Christmas, isnt that awesome? His first attempt at knitting. Whats that look for? O the mood swings of toddlerhood Im shopping at
Its potty training time! Do you think you can handle it? Its daunting, I know, but if you arm yourself with a potty like this, how can you fail? I mean, look at it cute, not-too-big, bright colors I wish my toilet looked so good! 😉 BabyBjorn is really an awesome company. Seriously, theyre one of my favorite brands! Their products (ranging from baby carriers to bouncers) are high-quality, decently-priced, and loved by moms everywhere especially this mom. I reviewed one of their baby carriers not too long ago and loved it! But today, were talking potties. BabyBjorn carries three different types of potties for toddlers: the Smart Potty, Little Potty, and Potty Chair. I asked to review the Smart Potty because we live in a small apartment and I didnt want a potty that would take up too much room. Our bathroom is extremely small, believe me, and I…
