So I saw my doctor yesterday, just a regular prenatal checkup. It was the first time I had met this doctor shes the one I chose to see me through the pregnancy but since we switched to this hospital/clinic so late in my pregnancy I really hadnt had a chance to see her yet. Ive seen nurses and midwives but not her until yesterday. And I was really happy with my first impression because shes super nice and very real. Well, she did an exam to see if there was any progress. After my last exam in labor and delivery a week ago, I was told I was 50% effaced and 1 1/2 cm dilated. There was some definite progress since the baby is reeeally low (she kept saying Wow, he is LOW) and Im now 80-90% effaced. Im still only 2 cm dilated, but she said they dont pay…
This post brought to you by Premiere River Cruises. A SEINE RIVER CRUISE IS A GREAT VACATION AND VALUE! * Paris is a great jumping off point for a river cruise * River cruises are very affordable vacations * Great food and service on river cruise ships * The cruise line gave us 3-nights in Paris for free! My wife and I were thinking about going to Paris and taking a driving trip for about two weeks in France. We started planning and could not get over the fact of how expensive everything was, our moderate hotel was over $600 a night plus 22% tax and that did not include anything, but clean sheets. Then we talked with a friend who recently went to Paris and she told me that dinner in Paris at a good, not great restaurant would set us back about $250. So we added up the…
Ill admit it as a mommy I depend very much on my caffeine intake to get me through the day. My caffeinated beverage of choice? Coffee! But Im very picky when it comes to coffee. In fact, I didnt think Starbucks could be beat as far as taste went until recently. But who can afford to have Starbucks as often as we want it? I sure cant. Enter theTassimo T20 Brewbot. This beeeeautiful machine almost magically provides you with coffee in an incredibly short amount of time 60 seconds to be exact! I myself now have one, thanks to Tassimo, and I love it. Seriously, I feel so spoiled. I can start my mornings shuffling blindly from the bedroom to the kitchen and have a steaming cup of hot coffee in minutes. And were not limited to coffee, either. You can easily brew a frothy cappuccino, hot chocolate, chai latte,…
The picture on the top left is from Christmas Eve it was my last chance to get her in her special Christmas dress and take pictures so I grabbed at it! We went to a Christmas Eve service at our church, it was really nice. 🙂 Christmas morning I got up before everyone and made waffles. When Emma finally awakened (I actually had to go get her at around 8:15 finally because I couldnt wait), we opened presents! Emma really got into this part and after we were finished walked around the tree wondering where more presents were what a kid! 😉 But she got some great presents, her favorites being a Magna Doodle and the entire Veggie Tales library from her grandma, a stuffed dog from her great-grandma, and a little bench set from her daddy and mommy. It was a great Christmas and I didnt feel like we…
When I was a little girl, my absolute favorite bible was a Precious Moments themed bible. Ive always loved the illustrations and spent so much time looking at every detail of the characters sweet faces. When I was given the opportunity to review the new Precious Moments Storybook Bible by Sam Butcher released by Thomas Nelson, I was thrilled! Upon receiving it, I was pleased to find that it is a large, sturdy hardcover (measuring roughly 8 x 10) with a large font, making it perfect for early readers. The first page has space for writing down who the bible belongs to, and there are other things to fill out as well including church records, a family tree, and even the childs favorite things fun features for a keepsake bible like this! Each page throughout the bible has a color border (like you see on the cover) with little Precious…
Ive decided that a mandoline is a definite kitchen must-have. I recently ordered one from Frigidaire online and LOVE it! I keep thinking of all of the things I can do now that Im able to slice my fruits and veggies into perfect slices: Slice and freeze my own mixed veggies for soups and casseroles Make up snack trays for my daughter that are perfect toddler-sized finger food Make my own homemade hashbrowns (much easier using a mandoline than a grater!) Slice thin veggies for salads There really are so many possibilities, and Emma and I have agreed that carrots sliced into thin circles taste much better than when sliced with a knife. 😉 The Stixx Suctionware Mandoline Frigidaire currently has two excellent mandolines to choose from. I was provided with a $30 gift certificate to Frigidaire.com for this review so I went for the Stixx Suctionware Mandoline which is…
In my last pregnancy update, I shared how miserable I am with being pregnant. I didnt really tell you why exactly other than the fact Im uncomfortable (which is a given since Ive only got about a month to go). The fact is that Ive been having severe joint pain and pelvic pressure. That feeling like the baby is going to fall out is just awful. It got so bad that I finally called a nurse and told her I felt like I couldnt even walk, had lots of lower back pain and braxton-hicks contractions, and felt like Id be on the couch the rest of my pregnancy. She told me to come in so we could make sure I didnt have a UTI or kidney infection (which could land me in the hospital). Trip to the Hospital So I called my husband and dragged him home to take me…
These are our Christmas cards this year, but I think this photo is priceless. 😉 Merry Christmas Eve and Christmas, everyone!
I love sci-fi, so the television series V is SO right up my alley. The storyline is a bit different, too aliens coming to earth, and not to destroy but apparently coming in peace The visitors the Vs are human-like beings who know our languages and bring awesome gifts of healing and technology. Understandably, people everywhere hail the Visitors as saviors. There are those who dont believe that they are truly on earth to help humanity, though so what else could they be on earth for? This is such a compelling plot, and it makes me wonder: What side would I be on if it really happened? I think I would be more suspicious than thankful, though I would hope these people from a different planet were honorable and meant to help us. I would think anyone who didnt do some investigating before trusting them would be stupid, though. Its…
These nightlights are SO going on my favorite products of 2010 list! I absolutely love them and believe you will too when you see what makes them so specialFirst of all, its not just a nightlight. Its a toy made of nontoxic plastic that gives a bit when you squeeze it. It is lit by an led light that changes colors and is never hot to the touch. Each nightlight comes with a charger that you plug into the wall, and it has several glow options. Just push the button on the bottom of the light and you can choose to have it change colors continuously by itself or stay on one particular favorite color. It can stay on all night and be charged in the morning or you can choose to have it automatically shut off after 30 minutes. Cool, right? There are currently eight different KinderGlo lights to…
