Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder – We Bought It! Now Find Out What We Think of It.

This is not a sponsored review. A couple months ago I shared our thoughts on the Leapster Explorer, an educational gaming system recommended for kids ages 4-9. If you didnt read it, take a little detour and check it out, then come back here to find out our thoughts on the Leapster Explorer Camera and Video Recorder! We have been sorely in need of new Leapster Explorer games weve had the opportunity to try the Mr. Pencil Saves Doodleburg game (which you would think is all about drawing but its so controlling of what you draw that it leaves no room for actual free creativity and bores my daughter to pieces) and a couple of the simple, inexpensive ($7+) downloadable games available for the Leapster Explorer but none of them have really impressed us as awesome yet. I determined that for her birthday I would make sure to get her…

YA Book Review: Starters by Lissa Price

Starters by Lissa Price Delacorte Books for Young Readers March 2012 My Rating: (5/5) Would you rent your body out to people who wanted to re-experience their youth if you truly had no other choice? Starters by Lissa Price is a new dystopian novel that takes place after a deadly virus hits mankind. The only survivors are those who managed to get the vaccination first namely children and old people. Anyone not in those categories never had a chance. In the aftermath, society is in shambles. Children who have no one to claim them as relatives are put in institutions very unpleasant institutions where bad things happen. Teens and kids with nowhere to go are on the run, squatting in abandoned buildings, staying alive by scrounging up what they can to live. Thats how life is for 16-year-old Callie, her sickly little brother Tyler, and her friend Michael. There is…

Making Moon Sand – Easy Peasy and Fun!

If you havent given making homemade moon sand a go, hopefully this post will spur you on! There are several different recipes out there in blogland right now, but the one I had everything for was a flour and baby oil recipe. I mixed together 9 cups flour and 1 1/2 cups oil to make this stuff: Im loving the texture and consistency its very soft, and is easy to form into towers and walls, then break down and start again. Both my kids loved it. I put it in our turtle sandbox and let them have at it. Emma made a fairy castle, but what theyve really enjoyed has been scooping, pouring, and touching. Its just irresistible! Even I want to get in there. 🙂 Definitely something well be doing again, and so far weve been playing in the same moon sand outside for 3 days so its worth…

Emma’s 4th My Little Pony-Themed Birthday Party (With DiscountPartySupplies.com Review)

We celebrated Emmas 4th birthday on Saturday! At her request, it was My Little Pony themed. I havent done a lot of themed parties in the past, but this was fun! And I was able to find a My Little Pony Party Pack online, so that took much of the party-shopping work off my shoulders. 🙂 We started out Saturday morning for my parents house lucky them, they usually host all the get-togethers because they have the biggest house. I stopped at Walmart first to grab hot dogs and buns for lunch, and everything I would need to make Emma a cake, except the pony–head shaped cake pan which I already had ordered. Two rainbow cake mixes and an assortment of pre-made frostings and I was ready to go. The cake turned out really cute! The mold worked well and I was able to figure out where everything should be…
