Isaac woke up at 3 a.m. this morning and decided it was time to wake up for the day. I tried nursing him back to sleep (that always works!) and letting him cuddle in my warm bed with me (that sometimes works) but he would not have it. His little head kept popping up, and a couple of times I got a wacked with his head in the mouth (he likes to be kissed on the forehead). I finally was driven from my room to sleep on the couch. I think a new sleeping arrangement might be in order. Is anyone interested in being part of a kids book exchange? We had some fun perusing Emmas baby pictures, trying to match the baby clothes in the photos to the correct quilt square. Dont you love looking at old baby pictures? So bittersweet, remembering how tiny your baby was! Being able to touch the very clothes that she wore as an infant makes it mean even more. 🙂 Aw, I remember that sweet outfit A sleeper I took lots of sleeping pictures of my baby. 🙂 (Such a precious moment!) Classic Pooh! Those snap kimono onesies were favorites! So many adorable little girl clothes. Emma had a blast playing this little game and seeing herself as a baby. Today I want to introduce you to a charming new bedtime book, Sweet Dreams by Rose Lewis. In this oh-so-beautifully illustrated book, as a mom gets her little one ready for bed she tells all about what many animals are doing to prepare for the night whether they are sleeping or not! The prose are sweet, but I think the real treasure is in the illustrations. They are bold and colorful, detailed, and they are so evocative I wish I could put these pictures on my wall rather than keep them in the book. 🙂 Sweet Dreams has been a delight to read with my kids, and is the perfect end to the night. Thanks to one of our favorite reads, Stellaluna, Emma has been doing a lot of pretending lately. Have you ever read this book? It is SO sweet both the story and illustrations are precious! (You can buy Stellaluna at Amazon.com new or Paperbackswap.com used.) She imagines that Stellaluna is a real little bat friend who swoops down from the big tree in our backyard every time she goes out to play. Stellaluna lands right in her hand and then accompanies her while she plays outside its so cute! The first time she decided that there was a real Stellaluna, Emma pointed up into the branches of our tree and cried, Oh no! Stellaluna is falling! and ran over to the tree where she caught the poor little bat before she hit the ground. Then Emma spent the rest of her time outside trying to find a way to get Stellaluna…

Emma has never really been into fashion or accessorizing, but she couldnt resist turning this flowy, glittery skirt I have into a sparkling princess dress! (Dont you love her pose for the camera in that bottom right photo? Totally expressionless lol. This little girl doesnt put on for the camera I wonder if she will someday or if shell always be deadpan?)
