I’ve Fallen Asleep and I Can’t Wake Up!

Not really. 😉 My question: What do other new moms out there use to stay awake, alert, alive so they can take care of their attention-demanding babies? Feed me! At 3 a.m. thankfully I can do that while dozing though its not really pleasant for either me or Emma when I jerk back awake moments before falling out of the rocker. Change me! My break from work was supposed to be a short one but when I go to grab Emma from her swing to feed her I have a surprise waiting for me there has been an explosion and those supposedly leak-proof diapers that are BRAND-NAME (grumble) are NOT LEAK PROOF. Im seriously considering suing. Play with me! This very often is in demand after the 3 a.m. feeding when Im waiting ever-so-patiently for Emma to finish eating so I can get a couple more hours sleep before getting…

Wordless Wednesday

Tummy time is HARD, mommy! But Ill try to keep a stiff upper lip! Wordless Wednesday 5 Minutes for Mom

Classics Bookclub

Guess what? 5 Minutes for Books is now hosting a Classics Bookclub! I love bookclubs, reading, and classics so this is right up my alley. 🙂 Now whether Ill actually have time to read every classic they choose is something only God knows. With a new baby, everything is different and I already dont have time to read like I did before Emma was born, but Im willing to try! Also, I havent really expanded my mind with a classic in quite awhile I think the last one I read was by George Eliot two years ago and I cant remember the title (I do remember it was good, though). Anyway, the first choice is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen a good choice, I love Austens books and all the movies based on her books. Itll be interesting to see how it goes, definitely. 🙂 Anyone who wants to…

Summer Thoughts and Pictures

Mood: Happy Its been such a nice summer. 🙂 I was looking ahead with dread at the heat wave that was sure to come but apparently I had no need to feel apprehensive because I havent had to use the window unit air conditioner much at all so far. Weve had a few unbearably hot days (to me anyway, it seems when Im on the verge of heatstroke John is still wearing a sweater or socks crazy!) but I survived them. *triumphant smile* Not much new around here last Saturday we went to dinner with Ed, Lynette, Renee, and Josie. It was our first experience taking the baby to a restaurant and I think that if it hadnt been so near her bedtime it would have gone a lot different. At first I kept Emma in her portable car seat next to my chair, hopeful that the noise (and there…

Ah, the Delights of a Library!

Oh how I would love to visit THIS library! I think you can tell a lot about a person by what they check out at the library. Think about it, all the books youd see people checking out if you were a librarian. I can just see myself, Oh, this person is into beading and has money problems wonder why?. lol 🙂 The weekend before last I was able to get there for a quick but delightful treasure hunt. The treasure is the discovery of a new book, of course. 😉 I love the library the smell of books (perfume is more like it), the feelings of delight and impatience at the sight of shelves and shelves of books waiting for me peruse them I could be there all day. I had considered at one time that becoming a librarian would be the best job ever (imagine getting PAID for…

I ♥ My Rice Cooker Rice Cooker Fried Rice Oatmeal Cooked in a Rice Cooker

I really do love my rice cooker. This is partly due to the fact that I could eat rice every day of my life and never get tired of it (this is actually only a theory, and might be a slight exaggeration). Today I did something different with my rice cooker I made roasted veggies in it! Another favorite dish since I became pregnant with my daughter, Emma, and had cravings for roasted mushrooms and potatoes. Yum! 🙂 Anyway, I threw in various vegetables I had in my refrigerator (mushrooms, broccoli, and zucchini) along with some olive oil, salt, garlic salt, and Sensei Sauce (from Whole Foods) and Im so surprised at how good it was! I usually roast my veggies in the oven but because its so hot this summer Im boycotting my oven until winter comes again this is why my rice cooker is so useful! I can…

I Finally Won Something!

Boy was I surprised to find that all my hard work at Prizey.com has paid off! lol Its way too much fun This is what I won, from Im going to save it to give to Emma. 🙂 It came from The Vintage Pearl Etsy shop.

BBC’s Sense and Sensibility

I recently saw BBCs new miniseries version of Jane Austens Sense and Sensibility for the first time and I have to say I am extremely impressed! I loved the film version of Sense and Sensibility, the one with Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson, but BBCs version is definitely my new favorite! The music, the atmosphere, the actors everything was perfect. I found myself completely engrossed even though I knew what was going to happen, though there were a few surprises a sword fight is just one of the different twists this version features. Thanks to my mom for letting me borrow it, Im planning to buy my own copy to wear out as soon as I can! 🙂 Then maybe youll get yours back *grin* You can actually watch the whole thing on youtube here! You have to click through and find the parts of the episodes though, which can…
