Nesting = Sewing

Im in full nesting mode right now, getting ready for this baby. I decided to go with a Dinosaur theme in our nursery and fell in LOVE with this fabric from Fabric.com! Thanks to my friend Margaret I was able to get it at a discount and with free shipping using a coupon. Such a blessing! This is the cutest dino fabric Ive come across so far, too, so I was really pleased at the find. This is all cotton except for the white with colored dots that one is flannel. I have a list of projects I want to complete before the baby comes, and had originally hoped to find a crib set with dinosaurs that I liked but so far I cant afford anything I like and I dont like anything so much I want to spend a ton of money on it. Plus, this will probably be…

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Review (Giveaway Closed)

Get ready, youre about to hear me rave over a mop. Before I was introduced to the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop, I had only experienced three types of mops: 1.The cheapie sponge mop. It doesnt seem to last longer than a week (if that) before it starts disintigrating and it never smells clean after the first time you use it. 2. The yarn mop. Heavy and a total pain to squeeze the water out of. Also never really feels sanitary. 3. The mop with disposable pads. I wont name the brand but it starts with an S. Mine was so flimsy it was hard to get in and scrub tough areas, and I hated the strong smell of the cleaner on the disposable pads. Basically, my experience with mops has been disappointing. Until now, that is. Rubbermaid has actually made me WANT to clean my floors with their new Reveal…

My Little Girl is Growing Up! And a Preggo Pic :)

Emma has definitely lost the baby look. Ah, bittersweetness! She is such a tease and absolutely loooves being outside! And then theres me Im 27 weeks pregnant now and this little boy inside moves ALL the time! He is so active Im just saying this now because its on my mind hes squirming around now despite the fact that its almost midnight. Happy Wordless (sorta) Wednesday! 🙂

I’m LOVING KT Tunstall’s New Album, Tiger Suit!

Isnt that a gorgeous cover? It was my sister who first introduced me to KT Tunstall. She made me slow down long enough to listen to two of KTs hit songs from a previous album, Black Horse and the Cherry Tree and Suddenly I See. From then on, I was a fan! I like her upbeat style, energy, and the fact that she doesnt sound like every other female singer out there. Her music is rocky, dance-friendly, and has an effervescent sound that KT herself calls Nature Techno. Why Tiger Suit? KT Tunstall has had a recurring dream since she was a child. She sees a tiger in her garden and goes outside to stroke it. She returns indoors and is seized by the fear that she could have been killed. Over the years, it has occurred to her that the reason the tiger responds so passively is that she…

On the Search for the Perfect Step Stool for Emma

Im currently searching CSN Stores (over 200 of them!) for step stools. Oh my goodness, its so much fun shopping there! There are SO many step stools available, Im hard pressed to pick just one; plus, I keep finding myself being distracted by the deals I come across from bar stools for your dining room to furniture for your nursery. And toys, toys for Christmas! But one thing at a time I really need a step stool for Emma right now. Finally, I think Ive narrowed it down to the following: See, I really like the second one the best, but I like that the first stool has a small storage area, too. Tough one! What do you think? Im shopping at

Shrinking Houses, Pregnancy, & Other Random Thoughts

Our small house has shrunk. Ive found myself bumping into things that have been there for a long time, but I swear the hallways are getting smaller! Is this the Twilight Zone, or some kind of enchanted building? It figures- were renting. What if the landlord is really an evil wizard who cheats unsuspecting families into signing leases on houses that appear to be big enough but has secretly put a curse on the house so that it will slowly shrink back to a pea-small size as time goes by? Im sure it has nothing to do with my pregnancy. 😉 Imagining your house is enchanted is much more pleasant than knowing youre slowly growing bigger and bigger and who knows when it will stop? Ive been feeling baby Isaac growing stronger every day. He is SO active! I dont remember my little girl being this active this early in…

Mom-Tested Recipe: Hearty Crockpot Bacon, Lentil & Potato Soup

Mom-Tested Recipe Ive been trying at least two or three new recipes every week since I started planning our meals, and Im excited about sharing our favorites with you! Most of them have been Crockpot meals because I love the simplicity of dumping ingredients into my lovely slow cooker and having a meal practically make itself in hours. Heres one we tried last night, inspired by this recipe. I LOVED it! I added a few things, like bacon and extra potato and carrot and it was SO good. Oh, and its also been toddler- and husband-approved as well. 😉 Hearty Crockpot Bacon, Lentil & Potato Soup 5 slices bacon, chopped into small pieces 1 pound dried lentils, sorted and rinsed 1 cup mixed beans (can be found in bulk health section or in bags with beans) 4 cups vegetable, chicken, or beef broth (I used bullion cubes) 4 carrots, chopped…

Make the Transition from Womb to World Wonderful! (Woombie Review + #Giveaway)

I can imagine the shock of entering this cold and breezy world after being warm and secure in mommys womb for 9 months. Have you considered what it must feel like? I mean, sure, weve all been there but no one remembers it. Thank God! 🙂 Like I said, though, I can imagine it and have a lot of empathy for a new babys cries as he or she gets used to the new surroundings and climate. The nearest thing I can compare it to is having to leave a huddle of blankets and your spouses warmness on a cold winter morning. Brrrr! Its not a fun transition. So what can we do to help babies transition from womb to world smoothly? I recommend that every new mommy have a Woombie in her off-to-the-hospital bag before giving birth. This little cocoon is a wonderful invention! I know, I know. Moms…

Book Review & Excerpt: Lady in Waiting by Susan Meissner

Lady in Waiting by Susan Meissner Waterbrook Press September 7, 2010 Susan Meissner is an author I am currently stalking (literarily speaking). I absolutely love her books and am touched every time by her characters and storyline. Shes the writer of the amazing The Shape of Mercy (my review here) which is so loved by readers that shes able to keep a blog written by the characters from the book. Yes, she certainly creates memorable characters that you dont forget after closing her books, and Lady in Waiting is no exception! I loved this story, especially because it jumps back and forth between present day and 16th century England. That time period is fascinating to me, and so was the history and drama surrounding Lady Jane Grey. The Story (from Publishers Weekly): Jane Lindsay never thought shed be alone, but after her husband leaves her, she must face the reality…
