The Golly Sisters by Betsy Byars

Five Minutes for Books is asking about our favorite picture books! Heres one of mine: The Golly Sisters by Betsy Byars The Golly Sisters, The Golly Sisters Go West, and Hooray for the Golly Sisters by Betsy Byars were very much in demand when my sister and I were growing up. My sister asked me to read it to her every chance she got! We adored the two sisters, Rose and May-May Golly, and their hilarious adventures. We still quote them every once in awhile unfortunately my memory is fading in my old age (25, lol) and this is all I remember: True so true! said May-May. I think it was actually Rose that said that but my sister was so tickled at the name May-May that she changed it. 🙂 These books are so cute and a fun read for kids! I secretly cant wait to find and read…

Currently Reading: Jane Eyre

5 Minutes for Books is meeting up on October 7 for Jane Eyre! A Small breakfast-room adjoined the drawing-room. I slipped in there. It contained a book-case: I soon possessed myself of a volume, taking care that it should be one stored with pictures. I mounted into the window-seat: gathering up my feet, I sat cross-legged, like a Turk; and, having drawn the red moreen curtain nearly close, I was shrined in double retirement.– Jane Eyre, Chapter 1 Last night I began reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for the 5 Minutes for Mom Classics Bookclub. Its my favorite of the classics! I havent read it since I was a teen, can you believe it? Well, Im 25 now so it wasnt that long ago (were not talking decades, lol), but still, its been too long. My copy makes the read especially delicious because its old and used its got history….

Now THAT she inherits from her mommy! *triumph at last!* Taking in the whole experience true book lovers take in the texture the sight and the smell of the pages Its so good shes drooling True book lovers also take in the texture with their feet (that I think she might inherit from her gramma, hahaha) Isnt that precious? Gleeful Babies and My Good-looking Guitarist

The weather is getting colder! Wait, now its hot again.Brrr, cold again!Argh! Three-day weekend coming up YES! Were gonna need the rest, its been a busy month. John especially is gonna need the time off hes now actively (muy actively) involved in our churchs worship. I innocently (yes it WAS innocently *batting eyelashes*) mentioned to the pastor that John played guitar and now hes playing and singing this coming Sunday. There are eight songs hes going to play well, six or eight. I cant remember. Its a huge amount of work singing and playing, though. Im still in shock at the amount of work hes done all this on top of college and working full-time and being a new daddy! Im suitably impressed. lol But hes already gone to practice twice this week and hes printed out all the songs he knows and written down the chords along with practicing…

Sweet Ideas for Outgrown Baby Clothes

*Im actually typing this with my 3-month-old daughter in my lap desperate times call for desperate measures for those of us who want time to blog but baby does not want to be put down!* I have this on my mind since Emma is growing out of her clothes so quickly. Ive already given away two bags of baby clothes that were given to me and now Im slowly but surely filling another bag. So, what can we do with those baby clothesthat are too small (and were only worn twice before Emma grew out of them!): Swap them for clothes that fit your child on ThredUP! Ive been doing this and LOVE it! More about my experiences here. Donate them Salvation Army, Goodwill, Freecycle, someone you might know that has a baby. Sell them on eBay or Craigslist.
