Easy, Inexpensive Wall Art With Fabric Scraps (Tutorial)

I have quite a bit of that lovely designer Michael Miller fabric that I made my throw pillows from (which I absolutely love and use every day!), so I decided to use some of it to make coordinating wall decor. And it was SO easy and cheap! The embroidery hoops I bought at Joann Fabrics were about 99 cents each. And Joanns also was/is having a flannel sale with flannel only $2.79 a yard and fat quarter sale with fat quarters only 99 cents this would be such a cute nursery decor project! How To: Materials needed: Fabric scraps, sewing scissors, and embroidery hoops. Step 1: Assemble your materials! Optional: Paint your embroidery hoop. You can also purchase brightly colored plastic hoops for only about a dollar or two more. Step 2: Loosen the screw on top of the embroider hoop, then take the embroidery hoop apart and place the…

Why Do Salons Charge More For Cutting Long Hair? (and Before/After Pictures!)

Im just curious. I mean a cut is a cut, right? Well, maybe if someone wanted major layers or something wacky done. I dont know. All I know is that my hair was to the middle of my back when I went in to the salon today and they charged me extra to get it trimmed and layered. Did it take longer than when my hair was shorter? I dont think so! Im not peeved or anything, though I have that new haircut euphoria and am just happy to have NEW HAIR! 🙂 Whattya think? Seriously, I havent gone anywhere professional since before Emma was born. When she was a few months old I did brave a trip away (I was one of those I cant leave my baby moms) to the library. Across from the library was a Perfect Look and I impulsively went in to get my hair…

Scholastic Storybook Treasures Fave: Max and Ruby/Noisy Nora on DVD {Review + Giveaway}

I am a huge fan of Rosemary Wells animal characters, both in book form and on DVD. The stories are heartwarming and the illustrations/cartoons are the sweetest Ive come across! Ive always loved stories that featured animal characters dressed up in old-fashioned clothing, and this is no exception. 🙂 Whats special about Scholastic Storybook Treasures? You can choose the Read-Along option and your child will be able to read the story as well as watch it, encouraging children who are learning to read! About The Rosemary Wells Collection (Max and Ruby/Noisy Nora): This two-DVD set includes eight episodes (four on Max and Ruby and four on Noisy Nora), each DVD approximately 75 minutes long. Both include special features like an interview with Rosemary Wells, a music video, and Spanish versions of the episodes! This set is recommended for children ages 2-7. Wall Decals for Every Room! (Old Barn Rescue Company Review – Giveaway Closed)

Say no to bare, boring walls! Give your walls character! Ive been slightly envious of those families that grace their walls with descriptive phrases and words, beautifully presented, ever since I first discovered that you could do such a thing as decorate your walls in such a way. You see, I love words. Im a bookish girl, one that loves to write and express my thoughts with words. So having words or my favorite quote on the wall appealed to me greatly. Why was I envious? Well, if youve ever searched a local store like Fred Meyer or some place like that, you know how difficult it can be to find exactly what you want. Youre pretty much stuck with whatever they happen to have in stock, if they even have anything more than pathetic little wall stickers. Little did I know how easy it is nowadays to find exactly…
