Summer Infant Elephant Collection Playard Review & Baby Bouncer Giveaway!

My first playard, the one I purchased while pregnant with Emma, was one of the most inexpensive I could find. It also was a pain to put up and take down, had no bassinet or special accessories (which I definitely could have used), and had a very hard mattress bottom. I wouldnt even let Emma sleep in it without adding a puffy twin-sized comforter beneath the playard sheet. Needless to say, Emma didnt sleep in that playard very often. She did, however, do a LOT of playing in it. It was really a lifesaver when it came to keeping her out of mischief while mommy cooked, cleaned, or worked (I worked as an MT at home then). Honestly, if I had realized in the beginning just how much it would have been used, I would have spent a little more and purchased something nice. Like THIS: This is the Carters…

Richard Scarry’s Best Christmas Book Ever {Review}

Im loving the holiday books released by Sterling this year, but my absolute favorite to read with my daughter is Richard Scarrys Best Christmas Book Ever! Anything by Richard Scarry is wonderful. I grew up with his books and am delighted to be able to share them with my own daughter! This particular book is focused purely on the Christmas holidays and, typical of Scarry books, is extremely detailed and a ton of fun for kids to look through! The first couple of pages even contain the sheet music for Jingle Bells so you and your children can play and sing along. There are several stories featuring favorite Richard Scarry characters like Doctor Bones, Farmer Pig, Sally Cat, and Big Hilda (a hippo). My favorite is The Bad Twins in which two naughty kitty twins wreak havoc on Busy Town and end up with coal in two HUGE sacks instead…

Every Toddler Should Have a Step Stool!

Ive wanted to get Emma a nice step stool ever since she was able to walk, but just hadnt found the perfect one yet. Why are these things impossible to find in-store? Or, if you go to a specialty store they can be so overpriced, its frustrating! I completely forgot about the great selection you can find at CSN Stores 200+ online specialty stores, or I would have had one long before this. After about an hour of browsing (it takes me forever), I came across the Guidecraft Safari Storage Stool and fell in love! I chose something gender-neutral since Im having a boy next and want him to feel comfortable using it after my daughter. I think these jungle animals fit the bill perfectly, dont you? And Guidecraft is a well-known and trusted brand, so I knew that this was a great choice. There are also eight positive reviews…

Jumbies Toys Make Great Stocking Stuffers! (Review)

If youre looking for something unique and fun for your childrens stockings this Christmas, heres an idea: Jumbies! These Beanie Baby sized stuffed toys might look a little bit funny at first glance, but thats what makes them so cool theyre jumbled pets with tons of personality! We have DingBat and HorseFly and think they are the cutest little stuffies ever! With their bulging eyes (I love the eyelashes on HorseFly) and silly mix of features, theyre definitely different and I like that theyre appropriate for both boys and girls. The DingBat, Bunker, has wire posable wings and the HorseFly, Kloie, has rainbow wings and a soft, furry mane and tail. Included with each Jumbie is a tag giving the animals name and mix of creatures as well as the story of how Jumbies came to be. Its so funny! Apparently there was a collision of storks on the way…

I’ve Been Cheating On My Flat Iron… (hairfree Review)

Check out these hair brushes: Theyre from a company called hairfree and they are special in that they are super easy to keep clean and hair-free due to a special lever on each brush that pushes the hair up and off of the bristles: Both brushes with the plates positioned out. But thats really just one of their features! The plates that push out and make cleaning the brushes a cinch are also coated with ceramic which makes themfantastic heat-styling aids! Testing Them on My Impossible Hair Yeah, Im not exaggerating I have really difficult hair. It doesnt know whether it wants to be curly or straight and so settles for being flat on top and frizzy at the ends. It is SO frustrating. In fact, before now the only way I could possibly tame it down was using my flat iron and believe me, I have to crank that…

The Post In Which I Share My First Birth Story

Am I the only one who loves reading other moms birth stories? I love comparing, ooohing, gasping in shock, and cooing over pictures of the newborn. Oh and thinking, Wow, she looks as worn out as I did after or Oh my word, how does she look so good after just having had a baby?. lol Well, I didnt blog my first birth story because I didnt have a blog when Emma was born. I only discovered the joys of blogging and reading mom blogs after. And since I have all this on my mind anyway knowing that its going to happen again (at least some of it), I may as well share it with you. 🙂 The Story (Its a birth story, but not too graphic I dont think itll gross you out. lol) Emma was kind of a miracle baby. I had had one ovary removed and found…

Checking out hospital delivery gowns…

If you’re new here, I hope you’ll subscribe to my RSS feed so you won’t miss any fantastic giveaways! 🙂 My time is getting closer (69 days till my due date) and Im starting to think about things like packing my hospital bag, making a birth plan, and childcare for Emma while Im at the hospital. One of the best things I did in my planning for the hospital when pregnant with my first, Emma, was bring a gown to deliver in. Now I didnt actually end up delivering in it because it didnt have an open back and I ended up having an epidural. And when I got there I found I didnt care what I wore, lol. But after Emma was born it was such a relief to get out of that ugly hospital gown and into something normal. So I plan to bring a nursing gown for…

The BumpStyle Wrap Top = Maternity/Nursing Wardrobe MUST-HAVE! (Giveaway)

There once was a girl who thought she had no style. Then she got pregnant. And the situation became much worse. As her stomach grew larger, she was at a loss as to what she should wear. Her tops were getting too short, the weather was getting colder, and she had one lone hoodie to wear with everything. And we know we cant wear hoodies perpetually. Eventually people know youre trying to cover something up. 😉 Plus, they just arent fit for every occasion! Then, this pregnant girl found BumpStyle. She obtained the BumpStyle Long-Sleeved Wrap and, upon receiving it, found herself actually having fun trying all of the different ways to wear it! And guess what? They all looked GOOD! She wore it to church and received compliments galore, something she hardly knew how to accept graciously (but she did). The next time she went to church wearing the…
