Spring Cleaning for Busy Moms! (Clorox ToiletWand Review/Giveaway)
Spring cleaning. Two words that brought dread to my heart before I ran my own home. I pictured myself donning an apron and scarf for my head like one of the classic 50s housewives and tackling all of the areas that accumulate dirt and dust in my house.
In my imagination, the work is neverending. And who knows if Im doing it right? If youve ever googled Spring Cleaning, youll know that there are checklists and instructions galore. Seriously, if I followed one of those lists it would take me a year to finish and then it would be time for spring cleaning again.
So I made the decision to complete all my cleaning in short, doable spurts. And throughout the year rather than in one exhausting week or month. Now I dont mind it at all, and even look forward to it the resulting cleanliness that means healthy surroundings for my family.
My Spring Cleaning Tips
Dont try to do it alone (Delegate!)
Listen to an audiobook or music while cleaning (It helps!)
Clean in short bursts
Start cleaning at times you know you wont be interrupted
Make lists
How I Do It
I like to take it one room at a time and hit the most important areas the ones that accumulate the most germs and dirt. Decluttering, dusting, etc. takes place throughout the year.
Kitchen: Clean and declutter refrigerator. Clean microwave. Clean dishwasher (if I have one).
Living/Dining Rooms: Declutter bookshelves. Steam clean problem areas in the carpets.
Bedrooms: Clean out closets. Wash curtains. Go through clothing.
Laundry Room: Run vinegar through washer in a cleansing cycle.
Bathroom: Deep clean toilet. Wash floors around toilet and sink.
Make Sure You Have Clean Cleaning Tools
If you dont want to spread germs around rather than destroy them when youre cleaning, make sure youre using clean/new tools. Sponges should be traded out for new ones annually, your toilet bowl cleaner should be replaced, etc.
Clorox ToiletWand Review
Speaking of toilet bowl cleaners, thats one thing I wanted to cover in this post. Most of us have a reeeally nasty bowl cleaner hiding somewhere in our house. In my case it was behind the toilet. One of those scrubber brushes with a handle that makes me wrinkle my nose every time I have to clean the toilet. I didnt know there were any other options, but there are are! I was sent one of the new Clorox ToiletWand Cleaning Kits in order to test out a new way to get the inside of your toilet clean.
When you buy the ToiletWand Cleaning Kit, you receive:
ToiletWand Handle
Six Refills
Storage Container
What I like the most about this method of cleaning the toilet is that the scrubbers are disposable. No more trying to sanitize something that will never be sanitary. Theres a lot less spread of germs this way, too. Just pop the disposable scrubber (stored inside the container above) on the end of the handle, dip it in the water and swirl around for a second or two to activate the cleaning solution, and scrub away. After youre finished, hold the scrubber over your trash, press the blue button on the handle, and the yucky scrubber is gone!
