GIVEAWAY: Learning Resources Measuring Motors (Teaching Math, Patterns, Colors, and More!)

Today I want to introduce you to a cool way to practice math skills, patterns, and counting with your preschoolers with Learning Resources Measuring Motors!

A quick overview:

Measuring Motors is recommended for children ages 4-8 and is intended to be used to compare and estimate cars of varying sizes. When you receive your set, youll find 88 cars that come in 4 colors and 3 different sizes, 4 interlocking road tracks, and the activity guide with plenty of ideas on how best to use everything.

With it, you and your child can practice:

  • counting
  • color and size sorting
  • recognizing patterns
  • division, multiplication, addition, subtraction
  • fractions

These colorful cars are a terrific visual aid for math concepts! Emma is learning to follow patterns, measure, and even addition and subtraction now. With these tools, its easy for me to teach and the hands-on approach works well with Emma. Here she is following a pattern I started for her:

Another way that the booklet suggests using the cars is letting kids play around with comparison measurements. For instance, how many tiny cars does it take to create the same measurement of a large car?

We also measured objects around the house with the cars. I asked Emma, How many large cars does it take to measure the same length of these scissors? How many medium cars? How many tiny cars?

Someone else who really appreciated being included was my 1 1/2 year old son, Isaac. 🙂 I pointed out colors and counted the cars as he pulled them out of the bag, and he loved it! No matter your childs age, these are a great resource to have.

And of course both kids were greatly entertained when left to play with the cars on their own there was a lot of vroom-vrooming going on!
