The Benefits of Teaching Rhymes to Children (Classic Nursery Rhymes Giveaway!)

Today I want to introduce you to The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection, a popular movie that came out on VHS in 1982 (a year before I was born!). It was very popular with both the US and UK, and I can see why this is without a doubt the sweetest collection of nursery rhymes Ive ever come across!

My 3-year-old daughter Emma and I watched it together and she absolutely loved it! She asks to watch it almost every day, and I dont mind in the least letting her. It has almost every old nursery rhyme you can think of, all of the ones you will want your little one to know. Some are acted out by real little children (Emma loved that) or puppets, and some are animated. Theres always someone in the background reading out the rhyme, whether its children or an adult. But the different voices definitely adds interest.

I took some screenshots as we went so that you can see what its like. See if you can guess which ones belong to which rhyme!

Heres a video see for yourself the charm of this old-fashioned nursery rhyme collection:

The graphics are certainly not the best, but my little one doesnt care at all (and neither do I!). I recommend The Classic Nursery Rhyme Collection highly!

So, what are the benefits of teaching your little one nursery rhymes?
  • It encourages a love for reading.
  • It teaches comprehension and helps hone thinking skills.
  • It expands vocabulary.
  • It helps small children understand the concept of rhyming and similar-sounding words.
  • Rhymes are silly and fun they show children that reading and learning is enjoyable!
