And So We Went A-Hunting. For Bugs! (Learning Resources Preschool Science Review & Giveaway)

With the warm summer weather and beautiful green flora come creepy crawly friends bugs! Bees, caterpillars, ants, butterflies, spiders, and ladybugs fill our yard. And Emma is completely fascinated with them!

Well, fascinated and a bit nervous.

I decided that a good way to combat that nervousness and maybe prevent a future bug phobia was to get up close and personal with the bugs in our yard. So we pulled out this awesome set of Big View Bug Jars and the Explorers Set from Learning Resources and began our bug-hunting adventure!

Does this look like fun or what? Those colorful jars are the perfect size for studying bugs up close!

But first you have to catch them! So off we went in search of a bug. Emma used this magnifying glass and a pair of giant tweezers from the Early Science Explorers Set to achieve this. 🙂

Funny how theyre hard to find when youre looking for them. But when you dont want them oh yes, theyre there! Our first victim was an ant, because they are the easiest for us to find. They love our patio.

We found a nice fat one:

This is such a great way for kids to get as close as theyve always wanted to without having to touch them! And thanks to the air holes, the bugs arent suffocating while being analyzed.

The ladybug wings on the lid pop open, revealing a clear, magnifying glass top that magnifies 3.5x.

The cap screws on and off easily and the entire jar is made of a very durable plastic.

These items from Learning Resources are a terrific find for outdoor preschool play and young scientific discoveries! Their bright colors and ease of use make them toddler and preschooler-friendly. Very much recommended!
