The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Disney DVD/Blu-Ray Review
The Sorcerers Apprentice is now available in a DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Pack! If you, like me, missed this Disney fantasy back in July, youll want to check it out now for sure!
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar cant do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protg. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. Itll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerers Apprentice.
My Thoughts
I watched this for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was really a great movie! As an avid fan of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, it was right up my alley and it wasnt too juvenile for an adult, something I appreciated. It was also not low-budget at all many of the scenes were wow scenes that really impressed me. I loved it!
What really drew me to watch The Sorcerers Apprentice was Nicholas Cages presence in it. And I have to say that he really did make the movie what it is. Hes a talented actor! But really this movie had everything that makes a movie a keeper:
Romance
A bad guy that makes you shiver and a good guy youre really rooting for
Scenes that make you think WOW
There is also plenty of comedy and action. In fact, it started off with a bang and did a pretty good job of keeping us on our toes the entire movie. There was nothing too scary for younger children, though there are some intense battle scenes between the sorcerers. Its rated PG and is safe as far as any sexual innuendo or adult conversation is concerned. I can highly recommend it!
