The Sims 3 Game and The Sims 3: World Adventures Expansion Pack Review

The Sims 3 for PC and Mac

Why are virtual simulation games so much fun? Possibly because, in the simulation world, you are in control. Lets say that you wish you had pursued forensic science in your life. Just head on over to your virtual life and create yourself, pursuing that degree! Get a job in the field and make your dream come true. 😉

What can I say? Its fun.

Thanks to Electronic Arts, I was able to review The Sims 3 and The Sims 3: World Adventures Expansion Pack. I honestly wasnt sure whether I would like them. My previous experiences with Sims games consisted of borrowing my sisters copy of The Sims 2, and I wasnt that impressed. I played it for a little while, then got bored of it.

BUT

It didnt take me too long after beginning to build my world in The Sims 3 to discover that there were some great differences between this version and the previous release. I noticed right away that this release is more goal-oriented, a definite improvement from The Sims 2. Each sim is given five character traits (good kisser, computer whiz, couch potato to name a few) and a life goal some of them very funny. They can aspire to become a world-renowned surgeon, a master thief, a forensic specialist, or maybe they would like to one day present the perfect private aquarium to their friends!

One of my sims was given the goal to become a superstar athlete, would head to the gym in her free time (a great place to meet people) and was eventually offered a job at the gym.

*Expansion packs provide more life goals, adding to the fun. For example, theWorld Adventures Expansion Pack allows you to aspire to be a world traveler.

As always, creating your sim characters is extremely entertaining you can customizethem entirely, from the shape of the nose to the design and color of their clothing, and even their personality!

World Adventures Expansion Pack

Yay for even MORE goal-oriented fun playing with the Sims! This is a must-have if you like exploring new worlds, have the desire to travel yourself, or just want to try something new. After all, who wants to stay in the same old neighborhood forever, right?

In this exciting expansion pack, you can:

  • Travel to different countries
  • Accept challenges to search for treasures and artifacts
  • Explore famous landmarks
  • Learn new skills (the sims, I mean)
  • Meet and befriend foreign sims

I was really looking forward to trying this one out because I have always wanted to travel. When my sim had finally saved up enough money to make her first trip, we went to Egypt. I was given four days to explore, and right away was given my first challenge/quest.

Right away, I saw they werent going to make it too easy for me I had no idea where to go and the map of Egypt showed many places to explore. I suppose thats what you do, just explore until you find what youre looking for. But since I like walkthroughs (I like to get to the point), I followed one I found online. Its nice to have access to those types of things, especially if you have children who can be frustrated easily. Or me. I can be frustrated easily. 😉 Oh, and I would necessarily recommend this for children. Older children will love it, but much of this will go over a younger childs head.

Conclusion:

I found both The Sims 3 and The Sims 3: World Adventures Expansion Pack a LOT of fun. And practically inseparable, for that matter. Meaning that I recommend buying them both together for added fun and adventure!

Be warned that Sims games can be very time-consuming, but, in my opinion, sometimes we need a game that will help while away the hours like when your little one gets you up in the middle of the night, and youre unable to go back to sleep. Perfect time for some Sims fun. 😉 I recommend them for older children and adults alike!
