The Odyssey Pop-Up Book from Sterling Publishing!

This book is sooo gorgeous and surprisingly detailed from the illustrations to the pop-ups. It isnt just a pop-up book, though, it also features sliders and other fun things to be revealed inside. One of my favorite pop-up scenes is a huge ship in the middle of the book:

and then theres the awesome Trojan Horse:

Both of these scenes are incredibly detailed! I know I keep saying that, but I was really impressed. The Trojan Horse even has a little door you pull up and it reveals the men inside:

I hate to admit this, but if I ever read The Odyssey in school, I dont remember it. So as far as the accuracy of the story goes, I have no idea. But this book has already received starred reviews and it is very popular.

Note that there are some freaky illustrations that could disturb (or fascinate, ha!) your younger children:

The ogre is peacefully sleeping (zzzz) until you pull the flap and the men push a sharpened log into his eye (Ouch!)!

This book is really an awesome, unique gift idea for any guy or lover of classic literature.

The Odyssey is recommended for ages 8 and up. Its definitely something that adults can appreciate as well as kids! I recommend this one and any others by the author. 🙂
